Through January and February Krispy Kreme featured chocolate. This promotion also carried through the Valentines day  season. We naturally made the connection between love and chocolate. And when your in love you can't stop thinking about it.  This was the inspiration for the graphics and the fun copy throughout the stores. Ceiling danglers and window graphics allow customers to interact with these thoughts of doughnut bliss.

We took Krispy Kreme into the holiday season with The Dozen Days of Doughnut. We paid attention to every detail possible for the in-store experience. The brand is always ecstatic to celebrate a holiday season that shares its equity colors, so we set the red and green on a clean background to let their iconic colors and the seasonal doughnuts shine through. We wrote a song and subsequent music video for the occasion which could be enjoyed through the implementation of snowflake QR codes found on the doughnut box and on POP throughout the store.

When I was presented the restaurant concept for The Foundry, the restaurant creator said, 
"I want a place that feels like a basement right out of the 70s with a slight modern twist." So, inspired by a basement, and all the striped tube socks in those awkward yellowing photos from the past, The Foundry identity was created.

Multiple voices always sound better when they speak as one. The 100-year old Nebraska Book Company had expanded to preside over nearly 300 college bookstores nationwide, each with a different name and personality. In the face of increased competition, much of which is based online, the company quickly recognized it needed a way to unify its on-campus and online identity. It also needed to reflect the fact that the company offered far more than books, everything from school supplies to clothing. We gave them Neebo, the complete college outfitter. The friendly name and logo, partnered with a fresh color palette, feel at home everywhere students live and appropriate with the brand’s “cool older brother” tone of voice. After creating the brand, we made it thrive at every consumer touchpoint, from posters to t-shirts to POP to neebo.com.

Boulder Gear Tag    branding design

This was another fun collaboration with Brandon Wilson. We created a new hang tag design for Boulder Gear. Boulder Gear is known for its ski and snowboard technical weather gear. The gear is designed to keep the weather out, which inspired the combination of pixel graphics and the temperature coloring used on a weather radar. The topographic lines illustrate the terrain one will encounter on their mountain pursuits.

UMKC was founded in 1929 in the heart of Kansas City.  With around 15,000 students from 47 states and 67 countries UMKC has grown to become the great university that it is today. The school has begun a massive expansion of it's facilities from student housing to a new library. With all of the changes going on around campus UMKC decided to update their logo. The past logo featured a torch which they felt they need to keep. The new logo finds away to create the handle of the torch with the negative space between the "M" and "K"  with the flame extending off of the "K". The clean and sophisticated design will allow UMKC's new logo to stay relevant for years to come.

Launched initially in four Kansas City-area locations, the Studio was promoted with a coordinated combination of in-store materials, email and online communications, radio and direct mail. Due to the success of the program, the Studio is now being rolled out to other store locations.

Every year Bernstein-Rein holds a week long fundraiser to benefit the United Way.  We came up with the concept, "Grow" that would become the core and rally cry for the whole event. This concept also translated into the events of the week. Every year the same people are asked to give. This year we challenged people to grow through experience by helping at a local food pantry. To grow their waistline during the bake sale and to grow their impact by donating part of their paycheck. As a result, we had higher levels of excitement, involvement and raised more money than the prior 3 years.

Kansas City-based Glace (say it this way, “Gla-say”) Artisan Ice Cream is a more grown-up sweet treat expression, rich in texture and inventive flavors like Venezuelan dark chocolate, fleur de sel caramel and pineapple-cilantro sorbet. The corresponding brand expression is clean, sophisticated and a nod to the owner’s love of modern minimalism. At the same time, copy and color palette make it feel fun and approachable. The logo also incorporates a sly tie to ice cream with circles that look like melting “drips” hitting the floor, while tailored graphic elements make the identity feel fashionable and unexpected in the category.

You can't walk into Glace, look at the menu and not be surprised by the unique flavors they have created. So instead of keeping all the fun to themselves Glace asked their customers through facebook to join in a flavor contest.  The contest was a huge success. Not only did they see a huge rise in facebook likes, and over 500 submissions, they where able to create a community that actively became a co-creator with the brand.
